Steve Hales selected as Chair of Smart Manufacturing Alliance Advisory Board

Steve Hales, Business Director at Huxley Bertram Engineering Limited, has been elected as Chair of the Smart Manufacturing Alliance’s advisory board, the sector network for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

Steve brings a wealth of experience to the role having been a director of a number of companies in the region. He has worked with Huxley Bertram since 2010, designing and building special purpose machines for a wide range of industries.

The Smart Manufacturing Alliance’s Advisory Board includes 19 industry specialists and experts who provide accountability for the team and guide their direction, ensuring they address the most pressing needs for the manufacturing sector across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

The Alliance is a joint venture between economic development company, Opportunity Peterborough and the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority. The network is tasked with creating a world-class manufacturing in the region, working with manufacturers of all shapes and sizes to help them boost their performance, take full advantage of new technologies, and create fresh opportunities to boost innovation and research and development.

Upon the appointment, Steve Hales, said, “I’m very pleased to take up the position of Chair on the Smart Manufacturing Alliance’s advisory board.

“With such a high concentration of manufacturers in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough the Alliance can do a lot for our region and I have been very impressed with the team’s work so far to bring the sector together.

“At Huxley Bertram we’re constantly pushing the boundaries of what’s possible for our customers, and that aligns very neatly with the Alliance’s ambitions for the sector.

“I’m looking forward to being more involved, working closely with the board and those who are interested in the Alliance so the network works for everyone.”
